Indian mkts in line with global peers; Sensex dn 74 pts

Indian markets witnessed choppy session of trade in line with global peers. Sensex was down 74 pts at 20031 while Nifty was down 10 pts at 6041. CNX Midcap, BSE Smallcap, & BSE Healthcare Indices continue to hit lifetime highs. CNX Midcap was up 0.8% while BSE Smallcap Index was up 1.6%.


Indian markets witnessed choppy session of trade in line with global peers. Sensex was down 74 points at 20031 while Nifty was down 10 points at 6041. CNX Midcap, BSE Smallcap, & BSE Healthcare Indices continue to hit lifetime highs. CNX Midcap was up 0.8% while BSE Smallcap Index was up 1.6%. Sugar stocks saw action. Bajaj Hindustan was up 13.2%, KCP Sugar was up 19.5% and Triveni Engineering was up 9.7%. BSE FMCG was up 1.4%, in which HUL was up 3.1% and ITC was up 2.2%. BSE Oil & Gas Index was up 0.9%, in which Cairn was up 3.6% and Reliance was up 2%. BSE Bank Index was down 1.4%, in which HDFC was down 3.4% and ICICI was down 2.9%. BSE Capital Goods Index was down 1%, in which L&T was down 1.5% and BHEL was down 1.1%. BSE IT Index was down 0.6%, in which Satyam was down 2.2%. Index gainers were ACC, up 4%, Ranbaxy Labs, up 3%, Cipla, up 2.7% and Dr Reddy's Labs, up 2.5%. Index losers were Bharti Airtel, down 3.4%, Tata Motors, down 2.4%, Zee Entertainment, down 2.1%. Kaushalya Infra closes at Rs 82.45 Vs listing price at Rs 79 (Issue Price: Rs 60). Midcap gainers were Thomas Cook, up 20%, Fortis, up 19.4%, Kolte Patil, up 19%, Bajaj Hindustan, up 13%, Gujarat Sidhee Cement, up 11.5%, HOEC, up 11% and TVS, up 10.8%. Advance-Decline ratio was at 5:3. Total market turnover was at Rs 90,029 crore vs Rs 1.02 lakh crore yesterday. Total F&O turnover was at Rs 61,326 crore vs Rs 70,156 crore yesterday.

FNO Snapshot:

Nifty futures premium was at 26.5, it added 28 lakh shares added (prov). Large number of stocks seen in the F&O curb. Long buildup seen in Sugar, Cement, Pharma, Auto and Airline stocks. Decent turnover was seen despite 17 stocks in F&O curb.

Praj Industries: Up 12.7%; added 7.8 lakh shares; Storng CoC seen
Bajaj Hindustan: Up 12.6%; added 8.4 lakh shares
TVS Motors: Up 12%; added 10.9 lakh shares; Stong CoC seen
HOEC: Up 11.5%; added 11.77 lakh shares
India Cements: Up 10%; added 17.9 lakh shares

High Turnover was seen in:

RIL: Rs 2696 crore
Triveni Engineering: Rs 2274 crore
RNRL: Rs 1375 crore
JP Hydro: Rs 1317 crore
Prja Industries: Rs 1265 crore
