Sensex up 12 pts at 19092; Nifty up 9 pts at 5751

Markets ends flat amid choppy sessions for 2nd day running. Sensex was up 12 pts at 19092, it swung 511 pts during the day, off about 300 pts from days high. Nifty was up 9 pts at 5751, it swung 165 pts during the day, off about 80 pts from days high. CNX Midcap Index was down 0.2% while BSE Smallcap Index was up 0.8%.



Markets ends flat amid choppy sessions for 2nd dat running. Sensex was up 12 points at 19092, it swung 511 points during the day, off about 300 points from days high. Nifty was up 9 points at 5751, it swung 165 points during the day, off about 80 points from days high. CNX Midcap Index was down 0.2% while BSE Smallcap Index was up 0.8%. VSNL was the stock of the day, it was up 18%, saw 8 times 10 day average volume. From day’s high, ACC loses 7.2%, M&M loses 5.5%, ABB, Sterlite & GAIL loses 5% each. Index gainers were REL, up 4.2%, Nalco, up 3.2%, ONGC, up 2.6% and Suzlon, up 2.5%. Index losers were GAIL, down 3.6%, ACC, down 3.4%, ABB, down 2.8% and Dr Reddy's Labs, down 2.7%. Jyothy Labs closes at Rs 794 Vs listing price of Rs 895; (issue price at Rs 690). Midcap gainers were Time Technoplast, up 20%, Ispat, up 5.2%, Adlabs, up 8.5%, Bajaj Hindustan, up 9.5%, Balrampur Chini, up 11.5% and WWIL, up 13%. Non-Index losers were Geodesic, down 12.8%, HCL Info, down 10.8%, Jain Irrigation, down 10.5% and Deccan Aviation, down 6.4%. Advance-Decline ratio was at 3:2. Total market turnover was at Rs 1.05 lakh crore vs Rs 1.02 lakh crore yesterday. Total F&O turnover was at Rs 79,137 crore vs Rs 74,579 crore yesterday.

FNO Snapshot:

Nifty future ends at 44 points premium Vs 50 points premium yesterday. Nifty futures added 18.3 lakh shares in OI and rollover was at 25%. Rollover starts picking up in todays trade; metal stocks saw good rollover. Sugar stocks saw huge short covering and long positions. Dec 5800,5900 call option added 2.1 lakh shares in OI; 6000 call added 1.25 lakh shares in OI
Dec 5800 put option sheds 1.5 lakh shares in OI; 5700 put added 58500 shares in OI.

WWIL up 14.2%; added 17.9 lakh shares in OI
Deccan Aviation down 7.5%; shed 7 lakh shares in OI

Global markets today:

Most Asian stocks rose, after ECB added $ 500 billion to the financial system. Korea's exchange was closed today for the country's presidential election. Nikkei was down 1.2% after govt cut its growth forecast for the economy. Shanghai Index was up 2.2%. Fresh liquidity came in Shanghai market. Liquidity due to unsuccessful applicants for China Pacific Insurance (Group) IPO shares received their refunds. Taiwan Index was closed up 2.65%. Reduction in the amount of margin loans outstanding persuaded investors to buy for the short-term. In Taiwan, FIIs net buy equities worth $ 11.5 million in today’s trade (Prov). FIIs have sold $ 370 million in last 3 trading sessions.
